Welcome to Matanzas River Basin Biodiversity Inventory

Welcome to the Matanzas River Basin Biodiversity Inventory. This project is a collaborative effort between several researchers at the University of Florida's Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience and several community groups, governmental agencies and academic institutions. The goal of this work is to assemble a scientifically accurate inventory of biodiversity found within all of the different habitats of the Matanzas River Basin. Not only does this inventory serve as an educational tool, it is also of great value to scientists and managers who monitor changes in biological communities over time in response to stressors such as global climate change and sea level rise. Please join us in an exploration of the natural biodiversity of the Matanzas River Basin on this site. If you are interested to participate further, we encourage you to contact us about joining one of the volunteer teams conducting collection and identification activities.
